Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams
We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us
We are making a significant investment in preventive social work in Järva - would you like to be part of our Early Interventions unit? The school social team is a collaborative effort between social services and schools for students with repeated or prolonged school absence.
The primary purpose of the intervention is to increase the student's school attendance and goal achievement by providing support to the student and family from a holistic perspective. The target group for the intervention is primary school students in grades F-9 with repeated or prolonged school absence and their guardians, who live in the city of Stockholm.
The school social team includes the following functions:
- SST psychologist employed within the education administration
- SST special educator employed within the education administration
- SST school social workers and SST family therapists employed within social services.
We offer
With us, you will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of preventive social work. The department for promoting and preventive social interventions offers services to the residents of Järva in the areas of early social support (formerly first-line social services), leisure, and citizen services, work, and studies. The department's area gathers five units with a broad mandate – from promoting and preventive work to assessment and decision-making regarding interventions. Within the area, there is the Early Interventions unit where the school social team is included. Starting from the turn of the year, the school social team (SST) and the school social team plus (SST) will be gathered within the same unit to work according to the new working model that the city has developed.
We apply flexible working hours and as an employee, you are offered an annual wellness allowance that you can use for activities related to movement, exercise, and other wellness. The city also has a number of discounts that you can choose to use; read more about our benefits here.
Your role
As a family therapist in SST, you conduct an in-depth mapping of the student and work systematically and knowledge-based to create change in complex treatment cases. You have a clear child perspective that permeates your work and you place great importance on involving children and young people in the treatment. The family's needs further guide how you plan and schedule the work. This means that the work may need to be carried out at times and places that suit the family. You work independently and in close collaboration with the other professionals in the team and with the school. The special educator and psychologist work in parallel with the family therapist to support the student, guardians, and school towards the goal of the student having a functioning school situation.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for you who have:
- A degree in social work or another university degree (at least a bachelor's) in a behavioral science subject.
- At least 2 years of current and documented experience in family therapy work.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Basic psychotherapy training or other further education that the employer assesses as equivalent, preferably CBT.
- Knowledge of and experience working with children and young people with problematic school absence.
- Knowledge of and experience working with children and young people with neuropsychiatric disabilities.
- Current and documented good ability to collaborate with other professionals and stakeholders around the target group.
We are looking for you who take responsibility for your work and have the ability to drive your tasks forward independently. At the same time, you easily adapt to changing conditions and can quickly shift focus when the situation requires it. You enjoy collaborating, both within the team and with other actors, and see the strength in working together to achieve common goals. You also see the development of the work as a natural part of your role. You have the ability to communicate clearly, see the whole picture, and take into account the larger perspective.
We place great emphasis on personal abilities and skills.
Your application
We recruit without a personal letter in this recruitment to strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role. In assessing your application, we will only consider your CV and a number of questions you will be asked to answer when applying for the position. We wish for you to answer concretely and succinctly to the questions, and that there is a clear connection between your answers and your CV. The city of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at ensuring each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
