We are now looking for a youth counselor for a new approach aimed at children/youth with long-term and extensive school absenteeism. You will play an important role in supporting young people back to a functioning school life and a safer everyday life.

Job Description

Children and young people with problematic school absenteeism often have complex needs that require collaboration between different actors and professions. As a youth counselor, you will be an important part of supporting young people to regain a functioning school life.

We are looking for someone who wants to:

  • Work systematically with children and young people and their families to create sustainable changes
  • Work closely with children/youth in their everyday lives and strengthen relationships and networks.
  • Strengthen conditions for school attendance and participation in teaching
  • Collaborate with schools, authorities, and other actors.
  • Contribute your knowledge to the development and quality of the operations.

The work includes establishing implementation plans, following up and documenting interventions according to applicable legislation, as well as making analyses and assessments of the treatment process in relation to set goals. Interventions take place where they make the most difference - at home, in school, or in other environments. Since the work is based on the young people's conditions, it may involve early mornings and evenings, which requires flexibility and planning. If necessary, other treatment assignments may also become relevant. We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in social work or other education that the employer assesses as relevant for the role
  • Experience in psychosocial treatment work with children, young people, and their families.
  • Experience in interventions concerning children/youth with long-term school absenteeism
  • A driver's license

Meritorious:

  • Training in FFT, CBT, MI, MST, IHF, or similar
  • Training in rePULSE, MI, Crime as a Lifestyle
  • Experience and knowledge in Signs of Safety
  • Experience or understanding of neuropsychiatric disabilities.
  • Other language skills than Swedish and English

Personal qualities

You meet young people with curiosity and a salutogenic approach. You are flexible, responsible, and available – always focusing on the young person's needs and right to a safe and meaningful everyday life. You believe in everyone's equal value, create a positive atmosphere, and have the ability to build strong alliances with young people and their networks. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. You have a good understanding of children's and young people's development and can adapt your working methods based on individual needs. You are confident and experienced in handling difficult conversations.

For employment in this position, a criminal record extract is required.

About the Position

The position is a fixed-term employment for one year. Extension may be possible if necessary funds are granted. Start date by agreement.
