LKAB Malmtrafik

LKAB Malmtrafik is responsible for loading, unloading, and transporting LKAB's iron ore products on the Malmbanan. We transport from the mines in Kiruna and Malmberget to the ports in Luleå and Narvik, as well as to SSAB in Luleå.

Your role

As a shift-based train planner, you work shifts close to the core of the operation and are responsible for the daily planning of our train drivers for ore transports between Luleå, Malmberget, Svappavaara, Kiruna, and Narvik. The role is characterized by a fast pace, quick decisions, and continuous collaboration with train drivers, production, and adjacent functions. You have operational responsibility in real-time and a tactical responsibility to create good conditions for upcoming periods.

In this role, you will among other things:

  • Ensure the daily staffing of train drivers.
  • Manage rescheduling and solve staffing needs in case of absence and operational disturbances.
  • Make staffing decisions and redistribute resources to ensure train production in real-time.
  • Communicate continuously with train drivers and adjacent functions.
  • Plan training and educational efforts according to given training plans.
  • Participate in timetable and scheduling processes.
  • Follow up planning against outcomes and identify deviations and areas for improvement.

You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively with others, and have a solution-oriented approach in your daily work.

To succeed in this role, you need to have:

  • Experience in personnel or resource planning.
  • Good computer and system skills as most planning is done digitally.
  • Approved secondary education.
  • Driving license B.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.
  • Basic understanding of Norwegian as we work closely with our colleagues in Norway.

It is an advantage if you:

  • Have experience in personnel planning.
  • Are familiar with the railway industry or LKAB's operations.
