Little hearts need great care! We are a small hospital in the big picture, and it is precisely in the small that our greatness lies. Here, all the expertise a sick child may need is available, along with good collaboration, respect, and care. Our Operations

The Children's Hospital is the pediatric clinic of Uppsala University Hospital for patients aged 0–18 years. Play therapy is part of the pediatric paramedicine section, which consists of several different professional categories including physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers, and dietitians. We work closely with children's librarians, music therapists, and the hospital school. Play therapy is aimed at all children and adolescents receiving care at Uppsala University Hospital and offers play, support, stimulation, and processing during the treatment period. We are also responsible for preschool class activities for hospitalized children. Play therapy is a safe zone where no treatment or examination is allowed. Play therapy supports the healthy aspects of the child.

Your Mission

Your work will involve meeting children and adolescents and their families. We adapt to each child's needs, abilities, and wishes and often collaborate with other professional categories. In play therapy, we are also responsible for treating children and adolescents who are afraid of needles, preparing for MRI scans, teaching in preschool classes, and coordinating activities. Through the play therapist, children/adolescents have the opportunity for play, stimulation, and processing based on an appropriate age and developmental level.

Your Qualifications

We are now looking for a licensed preschool teacher or leisure educator with at least 5 years of experience in the profession or other relevant prior experience. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Important qualities include responsiveness, initiative, flexibility, and good collaboration skills. To thrive with us, you should be outgoing, see opportunities, and take personal responsibility. You are used to working independently and structuring your work. You will document some of your efforts and also call patients via our journal system. It is an advantage if you have training in CBT and you should be prepared to work with children and adolescents who are afraid of medical care.
