Westerlundska Gymnasiet is located in new, beautiful premises centrally in Enköping. Nearby, there are direct buses to Uppsala and Västerås, and the train station is within walking distance. By train, it takes 45 minutes to Stockholm and 15 minutes to Västerås and Bålsta.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The introductory programs at Westerlundska Gymnasiet offer you a job in an organization that focuses on the student. Our introductory program is one of the few in Sweden that, after inspection by the Swedish Schools Inspectorate, is contacted to join a reference group regarding success factors related to the organization of introductory programs. We offer a workplace with a welcoming atmosphere and colleagues with great commitment. An environment that is permissive, challenging, and creative with good conditions for needs-adapted teaching.

You will be part of a team with subject teachers teaching primary school subjects. Teaching will take place individually and in groups, always in consultation with the responsible subject teacher. You will work with students in need of special support and specific adaptations. A large portion of the students you meet have a different mother tongue than Swedish. You will work with literacy for some of our newly arrived students.

Special educators are part of the student health team, which, together with the program director, school psychologist, and counselor, works on student health issues from a holistic perspective as well as on an individual level.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a licensed teacher and special educator, preferably with a focus on grades 1-6. You have in-depth knowledge of children's and students' learning as well as their language, writing, and mathematics development. You have the ability to conduct pedagogical investigations and to design and implement action programs. You have the ability to lead the development of pedagogical work with the goal of meeting the needs of all students. You can guide educators on issues related to language, writing, reading, and mathematics development, as well as extra adaptations and special support.

We want you to be able to work independently, be proactive, and have good collaboration skills. You need to be secure and stable, and you should have good pedagogical insight and be able to vary your working methods. You are an experienced, self-driven person who sees opportunities and finds it easy to collaborate, with a well-developed communicative ability. Experience working in a multicultural environment is an advantage. It is important that you value differences and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect oneself and others, and take this into account in teaching.
