Description:

The Department of Modern Languages has about 65 employees conducting research and education at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels in several languages and literatures. We educate around 3,000 students each year in our more than 150 courses. In most of our languages, we conduct teaching and research in both linguistics and literary studies. Within the framework of the subject area Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, and Slavic languages, courses in language proficiency, linguistics, and literary studies are offered. The department also provides teacher training in Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian. The courses are offered as standalone courses and within the framework of the Master's program in languages. Doctoral education is provided in Slavic languages, focusing on linguistics or literary studies.

Responsibilities:

Teaching, supervision, and examination at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels, as well as research and administration. Teaching also includes course responsibility and course administration. The teaching, which is primarily IT-based, may include components focused on language proficiency, translation, linguistics, literary studies, and culture, as well as teaching for the target group of native language teachers. Evening teaching may occur. Responsibilities also include actively applying for external research funding and following developments in the own subject area.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for employment as a university lecturer, one must have obtained a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific competence and demonstrated pedagogical skill.

A prerequisite for pedagogical skill to be considered is completion of relevant higher education pedagogical training, comprising at least ten weeks, or equivalent knowledge. If there are special reasons, the higher education pedagogical training can be completed during the first two years of employment.

Ability to teach in Swedish and English, as well as Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian, is a requirement.

It is required that the scientific competence, pedagogical skill, and professional competence are relevant to the subject matter of the employment and the tasks included in the employment. The applicant should possess the personal qualities required to perform the employment well. Such personal qualities include flexibility, good collaboration skills, and a sense of responsibility.
