University Lecturer in Didactics with a Focus on Swedish

The Department of Education, Didactics and Educational Sociology (EDU) conducts research, doctoral education, undergraduate education, and commissioned education in pedagogy, didactics, and educational sociology.

Job Responsibilities

Teaching, examination, research, administration, and supervision. The position involves teaching didactics with a focus on Swedish, teaching within the so-called educational scientific core, supervision and examination of independent projects at undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as workplace-based education within the primary teacher and subject teacher programs. Some teaching is conducted remotely using digital learning platforms. Teaching also includes course responsibility, course administration, and course development. Furthermore, course leadership assignments are included, which involve information, course planning, investigation, and evaluation work.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for employment as a university lecturer, one must have demonstrated pedagogical skills and have a degree with subject specialization from higher education that is relevant to the subject content of the position and the tasks included in the employment. A prerequisite for pedagogical skills is completion of relevant higher education pedagogical training, comprising at least five weeks, or equivalent knowledge. Experience in teaching university-level subject didactics courses in Swedish, the educational scientific core, supervision and examination of independent projects, as well as workplace-based education within the primary teacher and subject teacher programs is required for this position.

The applicant must be able to teach in Swedish and English. Proficiency in Swedish is a requirement for the appointment, as the majority of the course literature is in Swedish and addresses a Swedish-speaking context where examination tasks and other student texts must be read and provided feedback on in Swedish.

Desirable and/or Meritorious

A master's degree, teaching degree, and several years of experience in teaching the Swedish subject in schools are meritorious. All qualifications must be documented so that both quality and scope can be assessed.

The applicant should possess the personal qualities required to perform the job well. Such personal qualities include flexibility, leadership skills, good collaboration ability, and a sense of responsibility.

About the Employment

Individual salary setting is applied. The employment is temporary until 2026-06-30. The scope is 80%. Start date is 2026-03-01 or by agreement. Place of employment is Uppsala.
