The Mother Tongue Unit is part of the Gimo school area, but the municipality's mother tongue teachers work in all schools in the municipality. Parents apply for mother tongue instruction, and the teaching takes place individually or in smaller groups for grades 1-9 and high school, mostly in the afternoon after the regular school day.

We are now looking for a mother tongue teacher in Dari/Farsi for our schools in the municipality. This is a temporary position until the regular employee returns, but no later than June 9, 2026, when the spring term ends.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Mother tongue instruction is a voluntary subject with its own curriculum. The teaching aims for students to develop knowledge in and about their mother tongue. Students should be given the opportunity to develop their spoken and written language, gain knowledge about the structure of the mother tongue, and understand its significance for their own learning in various school subjects. As a mother tongue teacher, you are responsible for planning, implementing, following up, and assessing knowledge based on the curriculum and grading criteria. Digital tools are a natural part of the teaching and documentation of students' knowledge development. From grade 6 onwards, students receive grades in the subject of mother tongue.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have a pedagogical education. You should also have documented good knowledge of Dari/Farsi as well as good knowledge of the Swedish language. Being a licensed mother tongue teacher is an advantage. It is also an advantage if you have previously worked in Swedish schools. We prefer candidates who are computer literate and familiar with digital tools. A driver's license is also a merit.

Since teaching takes place in several different schools, you easily adapt to new or changing circumstances and see opportunities in changes. Just as students work towards goals, you set goals for yourself and work hard to achieve them. You are motivated in your role and show enthusiasm for your task. To ensure that teaching functions well, you take responsibility for your task, drive your work forward, and work efficiently. You are outgoing and social, and you easily create new contacts.
