Do you want to help create opportunities together with us?
The autism unit in Uppsala is looking for a special educator who wants to be part of our team for children aged 5 to 12 years, where we continuously develop our work by creating opportunities for people with disabilities to live a good life.
The position is a permanent full-time employment, where we will agree on a suitable start date.
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about them here (https://intranat.regionuppsala.se/min-anstallning/formaner/).
Your mission
As a special educator in rehabilitation, you will have a stimulating and varied job. You will have the opportunity to work at a specialist level regarding autism. You and your colleagues will be part of a cross-professional team working with children aged 5 to 12 years diagnosed with autism without intellectual disability. Your tasks will include conducting assessments and evaluations in collaboration with colleagues, as well as leading group activities. Your main task is to meet children at their level in conversations where you map the child's everyday life and involve the child in their care planning. You will also help create opportunities for the child to learn more about themselves and their diagnosis. A significant part of the work involves providing advice and support as well as guidance and information to the children and their relatives, for example regarding educational strategies, play, and interaction. We collaborate extensively with other services within both the region and municipalities.
Our organization
The rehabilitation in Uppsala County belongs to the management of Close Care and Health in Region Uppsala and has been a “leading rehabilitation” for many years. We are a specialized organization with expertise in autism, intellectual disabilities, and various forms of congenital movement disorders, serving children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities. We work to create conditions for independence and an active life through developing, supportive, and compensatory measures. Our cross-professional teams are located in Enköping, Tierp, Uppsala, and Östhammar.
The organization is characterized by development and an evidence-based approach, and you will have a stimulating and varied job. Competence development and experience exchange occur continuously within the rehabilitation's own operations. Each profession also has regular meetings to ensure equal competence across the county's various units. Within the management, there is a research and development department aimed at stimulating and supporting development work.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a special education degree or equivalent education, with many years of experience working in a resource unit focused on autism. You enjoy working in a team-based environment and have a genuine interest in making the child's voice heard and thus contributing to making a difference in a child's life.
As a person, you are structured, clear, and have a good ability to adapt your communication to create good relationships with both children and adults. You have the ability to work independently and take responsibility while contributing to a good collaborative climate both within and outside the organization. You are confident in yourself and can take the initiative for difficult conversations, lead group treatments for children, and contribute your knowledge and experience to development work. For good teamwork, personal suitability will also be emphasized.
