We educate around 3,000 students each year through our more than 150 courses. In most of our languages, we conduct teaching and research in both linguistics and literary studies. Within the framework of the Finnish and Finno-Ugric language area, courses are offered in language proficiency, linguistics, and literary studies. The department also provides teacher training for native language teachers in Finnish. The courses are offered as standalone courses and within the framework of the Master's program in languages. Doctoral education is provided in Finno-Ugric languages, focusing on linguistics or literary studies.

More information about the department's activities can be found at http://www.moderna.uu.se/ (http://www.moderna.uu.se/)

Responsibilities: Teaching, supervision, and examination at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels, as well as research and administration. Teaching also includes course responsibility and course administration. The teaching, which is primarily IT-based, may include components focused on language proficiency, translation, linguistics, literary studies, and culture, as well as instruction for the target group of native language teachers. Responsibilities also include actively applying for external research funding and following developments in the relevant subject area.

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for employment as a university lecturer, one must have a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence and have demonstrated pedagogical skills.

A prerequisite for pedagogical skills to be considered is completion of relevant higher education pedagogical training, comprising at least ten weeks, or equivalent knowledge. If there are special reasons, the higher education pedagogical training can be completed during the first two years of employment.
