Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant is one of the largest electricity producers in Sweden, generating one-sixth of the electricity consumed in the country. Nuclear power has very low fossil footprints and is a stable, weather-independent energy source. Since 1980, our three production facilities have delivered climate-smart electricity every day, all year round.

UL operates buses to Forsmark with wireless networks on the routes Gävle-Forsmark and Uppsala-Forsmark, allowing you to use your travel time as working time if/when work permits. Buses to and from Forsmark are adapted to the working hours of daytime staff. You also have the option to use our remote workplaces in Gävle and Uppsala or work from home if/when work permits.

About the Job

Forsmark is now looking for a summer intern to work with power system modeling. The group you will belong to is responsible for the development of safety reports (SAR), conducting primary radiation safety reviews, and facility design in the areas of electricity and I&C. The group also performs dynamic power analyses.

The group conducts modeling and calculations to develop various types of technical solutions within the electrical field. The group also acts as technical support for the organization.

In this role, you will perform practical modeling work. The work includes inventory and documentation of data as well as conducting simpler power analyses. Ultimately, the results will be summarized in a report that will serve as a basis for further work for the group.

In this summer job, you will have the chance to gain insight into the industry and create an expanded network while utilizing the knowledge and skills you have gained from your education in practice. The summer job may also lead to future opportunities for a thesis project with us.

Requirements

Your Background:

  • You are currently pursuing a master's or bachelor's degree in fields such as electrical engineering, energy systems, or technical physics.
  • You have excellent knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Previous experience in power system modeling is an advantage.
  • Completed courses in nuclear power and/or power systems are advantageous.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working independently and has the ability to structure, prioritize, and drive your work forward. You understand the importance of deadlines and take responsibility for completing tasks within given time frames and with good quality. You find it easy to absorb complex information and can identify which parts are relevant to your work. Furthermore, you have a positive attitude towards your work and the organization as a whole, with a willingness to contribute to common goals and achieve good results.
