Your role - Strategist for the future of train traffic

Uppsala is one of Sweden's fastest-growing regions, where both the demands and expectations for a sustainable and well-functioning public transport system are high. Historically large investments are currently being made in our county: quadruple tracks to Stockholm, new stations and passenger environments, and the establishment of a tramway in Uppsala. This is happening while development projects are underway in all parts of the county, each posing different demands on public transport and infrastructure that meet the needs. As a train strategist, you play a key role in planning and developing the long-term strategy for train traffic and coordination with other modes of transport. With your expertise, you turn visions into concrete results, take initiatives, maintain direction, and create progress in complex issues. The assignment has a significant societal impact, offers strategic height, and encompasses exciting challenges.

You will, among other things:

  • Develop strategies and directions for regional train traffic in Uppsala County.
  • Prepare decision-making materials in the form of analyses and investigations.
  • Drive and participate in projects and investigations related to the development of infrastructure and transport systems.
  • Collaborate and represent Region Uppsala in external forums and build networks both externally and internally.

Your profile

With your expertise, you contribute to creating an integrated and sustainable transport system that meets tomorrow's needs. You thrive in a political and collaborative environment, take clear responsibility for driving work forward, and translate decisions into concrete solutions. As a person, you are proactive, systematic, and communicative, with the ability to combine thoughtfulness with a holistic perspective.

You have:

  • An academic degree in a relevant field for the assignment.
  • Experience in driving strategic public transport planning, preferably with a focus on trains.
  • Very good understanding of infrastructure development and the Swedish Transport Administration's overarching planning processes.
  • A strategic outlook, analytical ability, and a systems-oriented approach.
  • Understanding of public operations and experience working in politically governed organizations.
  • Experience in driving complex, cross-sectoral projects.
  • Good communication skills. Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

We offer

We offer a strategically significant and socially impactful role in a competent organization, with great opportunities to influence future transport solutions in a growing county.
