We are currently looking for our next Chemical Specialist for the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) department at Cytiva's production facility in Uppsala. As a Chemical Specialist with us, you will be part of the local EHS team consisting of about 20 experts in various EHS areas such as external environment, occupational health, process safety, chemical management, and occupational health services.
For this role, we are seeking a person with experience and knowledge of European and Swedish chemical legislation. This includes, at the European level, REACH and CLP regulations. As a Chemical Specialist at Cytiva, you will be part of an exciting and developing team located on-site in Uppsala and report to the EHS Director.
In your role as a Chemical Specialist, you will work with many aspects of REACH, such as coordinating registrations, permit applications, and the use of various intermediates. You will also be the contact person on-site for authorities and other industry groups regarding REACH-related issues. You will collaborate with various functions on-site such as research, manufacturing, marketing, sourcing, and EHS regarding REACH and chemical management. The role also involves monitoring, implementing, and supporting the business regarding the CLP regulation. Additionally, you will administer and develop our chemical management system – Chemical Manager (CM), which means acting as a superuser on-site.
Your main responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and drive the site's REACH work forward in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Develop, implement, and update procedures, processes, and instructions to ensure sustainable and long-term work within chemical management, CLP, and REACH.
- Act as the contact person for authorities regarding all types of chemical issues, handle regulatory matters and applications within the chemical area, and compile documentation.
- Monitor and report changes and new requirements affecting the company's operations within chemical management, CLP, and REACH.
- Lead internal training initiatives regarding chemical management, CLP, and REACH.
- Coordinate spill exercises together with the safety department.
- Control the regulatory aspects for new chemicals to the business.
- Administration and development of the site's chemical management system – Chemical Manager (CM).
Your profile:
- Academic degree with a focus on environment, chemistry, or a related field.
- Several years of practical experience working with chemical legislation, where REACH and CLP have been a natural part of your daily work.
- Good ability to interpret and translate legal requirements into practical, functioning processes and methods in a production environment.
- Fluent communication in both Swedish and English.
It is also advantageous if you have:
- Experience in the chemical or process industry, preferably from manufacturing operations with high regulatory requirements.
- Experience in handling regulatory contacts, for example in connection with inspections, applications, reporting, or follow-up.
- Practical experience with permitting processes under the Environmental Code or other relevant legislation.
We welcome applicants who are organized and structured problem-solvers with a good ability to explain and anchor various decisions. You are a skilled communicator who easily takes initiative and can handle inquiries in your area with a high degree of independence. You thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment and are eager to drive change and simplification efforts in collaboration with others.
Selection and interviews are ongoing, and the position may be filled before the application deadline. For questions regarding this position, please contact the recruiting manager Marcus Roos, [email protected]. We warmly welcome your application!
