Do you want to work in a team where technical expertise, collaboration, and societal benefit go hand in hand? Do you have offshore experience with marine surveying and a passion for developing operations? Then you are the one we are looking for!
The marine geological operations at SGU provide Swedish authorities with the information needed for both Sweden's civilian and military administration and security. For these missions, we have our own research vessel, Ocean Surveyor, and the smaller research boat, Ugglan.
Our team consists of marine geologists, biologists, technicians, instrument experts, environmental chemists, and sailors with varying experiences and skills, united by a strong focus on quality, societal benefit, and teamwork. We actively work for an inclusive work environment where everyone can contribute and develop.
Job Responsibilities
As a surveyor, you will be an important part of our data collection operations and work closely with colleagues who have extensive experience in marine measurement technology. You will contribute to ensuring that our marine surveys maintain high quality and operational reliability. We have a group of four technicians and experienced surveyors that you will join, who together possess deep knowledge and extensive experience in all aspects of instruments and marine surveys. You will participate in the entire chain from planning and calibration to data collection and quality assurance.
From March to October, most of the work takes place offshore in 7 or 14-day field periods. Nominally, a field period is followed by a free period and a land period in a 1:1:1 ratio, but we adjust schedules individually as much as possible.
During the winter, time is spent on the vessel in our winter harbor and at one of our offices with good opportunities for remote work. Training, conferences, and technology fairs are scheduled for this period.
