About the job

As an automation engineer, you will work closely with our production processes and support both operations, maintenance, and projects in a highly automated environment. The role involves daily work with troubleshooting, optimization, and further development of process-related automation systems.

Your responsibilities:

• Troubleshooting in PLC, HMI, and process-related control systems (e.g., Siemens, Beckhoff, Emerson, or equivalent).
• Developing and managing backup strategies, version control, and critical routines.
• Ensuring and further developing remote support functionality, both internally and with suppliers.
• Participating in and driving improvement and development projects within machine and process automation.
• Technical requirements specification, architecture issues, and automation functionality in projects.
• Proactively working on machine availability, stable operations, condition monitoring, and cost-effectiveness.
• Identifying risks related to outdated hardware and suggesting replacements.
• Collaborating with IT on robust and secure IT/OT solutions in new machines and process systems (e.g., networks, access, and data integration).

Location and flexibility

The position is based on-site in Gimo and requires presence in production.

Your background and personality

We are looking for someone with experience in production, maintenance, or technical projects, as well as a technical education – preferably in automation, electronics, process instrumentation, IT/OT, or equivalent. You communicate fluently in Swedish and are comfortable communicating in English.

You have experience with:

• PLC/DCS control systems (troubleshooting, modifications, system understanding).
• Industrial networks and communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, EtherCAT, OPC UA).
• Process-related automation in the manufacturing industry.
• Office 365 and documentation in a structured environment.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA, robotic automation, data collection, log management, or virtual server environments is considered an advantage.

You work analytically and see the big picture while being meticulous and structured. Taking initiative comes naturally to you, and you feel confident in making technical decisions and communicating clearly in cross-functional collaborations.
