Job Responsibilities

The role of a swimming instructor involves working to increase swimming proficiency among Malmö's children and youth. You and your colleagues will work together to enhance swimming skills in the city, providing essential knowledge to the residents of Malmö. Your main task will be to lead our summer swimming schools. You will also provide service to our visitors and ensure that the swimming facility is clean and fresh.

As a swimming instructor in the swimming section, your workplace will vary based on the need for swimming schools in the city. We also have outdoor activities in the sea.

You will work according to a schedule from Monday to Friday, during the day.

Qualifications

You must be 18 years or older. You should have work experience in leading swimming instruction and/or be a certified swimming instructor. The qualifications we consider acceptable are those from the Swedish Swimming Federation, the Swedish Lifesaving Society, or a similar qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. Swimming proficiency is a requirement for all employees in the swimming unit, and candidates invited for an interview will be required to take a swimming test.

You should have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Basic knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is considered an asset. To thrive in our team, you should gain energy from teaching and spreading joy to both participants and colleagues. We also want you to be pedagogical and have a knack for teaching. Since you will be the face of the swimming school and may encounter various situations, it is essential that you can handle people and always act as a good ambassador.

About the Workplace

The Bath and Recreation Unit works for the residents of Malmö, associations, and schools, providing spaces for swimming training, exercise, swimming experiences, and recreation. The unit operates its own facilities at Hylliebadet, Oxievångsbadet, Rosengårdsbadet, Simhallsbadet, Lindängsbadet, Hylliesportcenter, Öresunds Funkis – a barrier-free swimming facility, as well as Torups Outdoor Recreation Area and Bulltofta Sports Center. The swimming section within the administration's bathing unit is also tasked with increasing swimming proficiency among Malmö's children and youth.
