Postdoctoral Researcher in Health Economics

Description of the Research Group

Health Economics at Lund University is ranked first in Scandinavia and ninth in Europe in its field.

Health economic research is conducted at the School of Economics and Management and at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Malmö, Faculty of Medicine. The research group in health economics at the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University is led by Professor Ulf-G Gerdtham and primarily focuses on five areas: 1) Public health issues; 2) Incentives and organization within health care; 3) Design of health care systems in terms of efficiency and equity; 4) Economic evaluations of health interventions and programs; 5) Socioeconomic inequality in health and welfare. Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on qualitative and quantitative health economic analysis of workplace factors affecting labor market participation for individuals with congenital disabilities, as well as for work on registry-based analysis of pregnancy outcomes for individuals with congenital disabilities.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for the position:

  • PhD in health economics.
  • Documented experience in population-based registry studies.
  • Experience in qualitative interview studies and methods.
  • Very good knowledge of statistical analysis and applied microeconomics.
  • Very good proficiency in both Swedish and English.
  • Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The tasks require you to be organized, independent, and flexible.

Meritorious for the position are:

  • Understanding of the individual challenges faced by individuals with congenital disabilities.
  • Previous or current research grants.

Conditions

The position is a special fixed-term employment (SÄVA) for 12 months with a preliminary start date of April 1, 2026, or by agreement. Full-time position (100%).
