Special Teacher/Special Educator

We are looking for a special teacher/special educator with a combined role where you plan, prepare, and conduct teaching based on special pedagogical methods and work in a guiding capacity at the individual, group, and organizational levels.

We are two school development-oriented principals leading an engaged staff of approximately 45 employees, including two lead teachers. Together, we work for a school where knowledge, safety, and well-being are at the center, and we are proud of our high goal fulfillment.

Our student health team is a central part of the school and is in an exciting phase of development. With us, you will have the opportunity to continue developing and strengthening the team's working methods, so that student health becomes a natural driving force in the school's development.

Your Role with Us

Special Teacher

As a special teacher, you work with in-depth knowledge of language, writing, and reading development/mathematics development with a focus on the individual level. You use special pedagogical methods to plan, prepare, and conduct teaching and support the student based on their specific difficulties.

You carry out and document assessments, investigations, and various forms of pedagogical tests aimed at increasing understanding of the student's difficulties in schoolwork. As a special teacher, you also contribute your expertise to the work with pedagogical investigations, adaptations, and action programs. You work to eliminate barriers and difficulties in the learning environment, develop alternative learning environments and learning tools. You are a qualified conversation partner in matters concerning children's and students' language, writing, and reading development/mathematics development in team work and student health teams.

Special Educator

Based on analyses at the individual, group, and organizational levels, you work in a guiding capacity with a focus on group and organization. You actively contribute to qualified discussions about learning situations and the development of the school environment together with the principal, working teams, and student health teams. Furthermore, you support educators in structuring their work to facilitate students' learning situations. With a salutogenic approach, you contribute to health-promoting and preventive work.

Common Tasks

Questions regarding inclusion and values are a natural part of your daily work. In your work, you create relationships both internally and externally characterized by mutual respect and trust, and you meet students where they are. You engage, inspire, and stimulate students to learn and take responsibility, as well as lead and organize work so that a safe learning environment is created based on mutual respect and cooperation. In a systematic way, you reflect on and evaluate the practical work individually and together with others. Your tasks also include planning, prioritizing, and taking responsibility for your own time and development.

Who Are We Looking For?

For the position of special teacher, you need to have a teaching license with the authority to conduct teaching regarding special support in grades 1-3 or 4-6 in primary school. It is an advantage if you have a teaching license with the authority to conduct teaching in grades 1-3 or 4-6. For the position of special educator, we want you to have a teaching license with the authority to conduct teaching in grades 1-3 or 4-6 as well as a special education degree.

The assignment requires that you have at least 3 years of well-documented experience working with teaching within the school system and experience teaching in primary school, grades 1-3 or 4-6. As a special teacher, the ability to apply in-depth knowledge regarding language, writing, and reading development or mathematics development is also required. You have the ability to guide colleagues in structuring their work to facilitate students' learning situations.

Furthermore, good ability to implement the organization's mission regarding students in need of special support and knowledge to adapt working methods and approaches to different groups' and individuals' conditions is required. Of course, you are well acquainted with current research and have good knowledge regarding alternative learning tools as well as digital compensatory alternative learning tools.

You have good knowledge of and the ability to work based on current governing documents. You can systematically reflect on and evaluate practical work individually and with others. The ability to see the organization from a holistic perspective and integrate student health work into the organization is required. Naturally, you use digital technology as a tool in your work to seek information, plan, communicate, present, and document. You certainly have the ability to document in a structured and high-quality manner.

To practice a situation-adapted learning and leadership style that is based on understanding students' situations and values and meeting them where they are, you handle without difficulty. You create relationships both internally and externally characterized by respect and trust and can engage, inspire, stimulate, and strengthen students towards learning and responsibility.

You are well acquainted with and can adhere to the ethical principles for teachers. You are good at systematically reflecting on and evaluating practical work both individually and with others. You can plan and prioritize your working time in both the long and short term.

When we want to offer you the position, you will need to present an extract from the police's criminal record to be employed, according to the provisions in Chapter 2, Sections 31-33 of the Education Act.
