About you
As a teacher, you have a strong subject anchoring and a clear vision for your assignment.
We are looking for someone who:
• Loves your subject and keeps your subject knowledge alive and updated.
• Believes you have something important to share and want to show students the depth and possibilities of the subject.
• Wants to teach in a traditional school environment where classical knowledge transfer is at the center, where teaching is based on facts, context, and storytelling – and where students are not left alone with the subject matter.
• Believes in the teacher's role as an expert and subject bearer.
• Has a clear and secure leadership in the classroom and acts as an adult role model for the students.
• Wants to give your students access to a world that is larger and richer than their immediate environment.
We recommend that you read the texts on our website to get a broader picture of the school.
Qualifications/requirements
· Secondary school teacher degree/Subject teacher degree with a focus on working in upper secondary school.
· Teacher certification in the subjects taught.
At Gymnasieskolan Gripen, we stand up for teachers' freedom to carry out their national mission. We believe that empowerment and responsibility create meaning and foster professional pride. Here, teachers are not a subordinate profession but have the professional freedom to be the teachers they want to be.
Teaching is the teacher's most important task, and everything else is secondary. Therefore, it is important for us that the teaching assignment is clear and defined. With us, you will receive a clear job description and a priority list that helps maintain a balanced workload.
Scheduled lessons, student times, meetings, teacher conferences, special days, staff days, outdoor days, and similar are counted as regulated working hours. You are expected to be on site 30 minutes before the first lesson each day, stay 10 minutes after the last lesson ends, and arrive at each lesson five minutes before it starts. All other time is trust time that you manage yourself, when and where it is performed. All teachers also have a fixed ergonomic workspace at the school for their own work.
Gymnasieskolan Gripen uses learning platforms without matrix constraints, where a reasonable amount of documentation is required. We actively work to ensure that the learning platforms are a support and an asset – not a limitation or control of teaching. All students have their own laptops, but it is each teacher's responsibility to decide if, when, and how the computers should be used in teaching.
At Gripen, reading and the written word are the core of all teaching.
Other tasks
Meetings
In addition to your scheduled lessons, you are expected to participate in shorter teacher meetings as well as longer gatherings during, for example, staff days. All meetings have clear purposes and goals communicated in advance and are held within established time frames.
Collegial learning and collaboration
At Gripen, we do not work with traditional work teams and have chosen to limit fixed collegial learning to a few occasions per year. We do not place you in joint projects or interdisciplinary work. However, we value a good working environment that encourages voluntary collegial cooperation and interaction among colleagues.
Special days and events
You are expected to participate in school-wide activities such as study days, school graduations, professional development, outdoor days, and study visits, when regular teaching is temporarily suspended.
About the school and leadership
We place great importance on creating good conditions for our teachers to do a good job. You will have time to prepare, refine, and develop your teaching in peace and quiet. We do not initiate development work for its own sake, but believe in a slow and steady school.
Gripen is a teacher-owned school, which means that the principal is present in the daily operations. The school has had the same principal and vice-principal for over 15 years, which creates stability, continuity, and long-term leadership in the school's development.
Warm welcome with your application!
