Research Group in Cardiovascular Research

Workplace Description
The research group Cardiovascular Research – Translational Studies conducts research in cardiovascular disease focusing on biological differences underlying acute complications such as heart attack and stroke.
The research is translational and includes studies of human tissue and several in-vitro models. The group has been at the forefront of the field for many years and has established collaborations with international research groups. The group, led by Professor Isabel Goncalves and Associate Professor Andreas Edsfeldt, consists of postdocs, PhD students, bioinformaticians, and laboratory engineers with both clinical and preclinical backgrounds. The activities are located at CRC in Malmö.

Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Supervision of PhD students, postdocs, and junior researchers in bioinformatics, clinical cardiology, experimental cardiology, and diabetology.
- Teaching about heart disease at the university for medical students and physiotherapy students.
- Administrative assignments within LUDC and Exodiab.
- Responsibility for funding and financial planning.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- Medical license issued by the National Board of Health and Welfare or another issuer deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Associate Professor in cardiovascular research.
- Documented supervision of clinical and preclinical PhD students.
- Well-documented experience in translational cardiology and diabetology.
- As a person, you need to be engaged and passionate about research and are expected to work both independently and in a team.
Meritorious for the position are:
- Good knowledge in single-cell and spatial sequencing.
- Pedagogical training.
- Leadership training.

The position is a fixed-term appointment until 2026-06-30 with a scope of 5 percent, with immediate start or by agreement.
