We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
Our Operations
The specialized palliative care at Akademiska sjukhuset is conducted at the Palliative Center, which also includes a branch in Tierp. Here, patients with various diagnoses and of all ages are cared for. We provide palliative care to patients with complex symptoms or whose life situation entails special needs. The work is carried out in multiprofessional teams where special knowledge and competence are utilized.
At the Palliative Center, there are four units; the department for specialized palliative inpatient care (SPVA), the department for specialized home care (ASH) with Uppsala, Knivsta, and Norduppland as the catchment area, a palliative outpatient clinic, and a palliative consulting team (PKT) providing advice and training for both outpatient and inpatient care throughout the region. The operations are characterized by a holistic view of the individual, high-quality care and nursing, and support for relatives. Our facilities are located at Akademiska sjukhuset, Genetikvägen 4, which is 3.5 km south of Akademiska sjukhuset, as well as in facilities at Tierp Health Center. Research and education are an important part of all operations at Akademiska sjukhuset, including the Palliative Center.
Currently, a reorganization is underway with the explicit goal of strengthening palliative care within the region, and in connection with this, the area of Palliative Care will be established on 12/2. We look forward to the future and would like to involve even more competent individuals in our development of the operations!
