About the Unit

METOCC, the Swedish Armed Forces Meteorological and Oceanographic Centre, is part of F 16 and is located in Enköping. METOCC's main task is to produce weather forecasts and oceanographic forecasts for military units and staffs around the clock to increase the operational safety and effectiveness of the Armed Forces. METOCC also conducts work in education and development as well as in the fields of climatology/climatological studies and space weather. Approximately 30 officers (defense meteorologists) and about 30 civilian employees (meteorologists, oceanographers, systems engineers, administrators, weather administrators) work at METOCC across three departments. We have roughly equal numbers of women and men, making us one of the most gender-equal units in the Armed Forces. We are now looking for a civilian employee to work within the METOCC staff.

Main Responsibilities

As a Logistics Officer, you will be responsible for building and developing the unit's logistics function. You will work in a staff where we collectively solve our tasks and contribute our knowledge to develop the unit and each respective employee. The main responsibilities include:

  • Leading the unit's logistics and material service with needs assessment and follow-up
  • Collaborating with other units within the Armed Forces
  • Supporting the unit manager with general staff tasks
  • Acting as the unit's deputy security officer
  • Supporting and working in the operational weather service

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Approved high school diploma
  • Ability to express yourself well, both orally and in writing, in Swedish and English.
  • Driver's license B
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software

You are good at organizing and prioritizing and can independently prepare documents and materials. You take initiative and drive the work forward. You have the ability to switch between individual work and teamwork. You share your knowledge, experiences, and information. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

MERITORIOUS

  • Previous work experience in logistics
  • Previous work experience in security service and/or signal protection service
  • Previous work experience as a weather administrator
  • Knowledge of LIFT and SAP
  • Previous experience from the Armed Forces

Employment type: Permanent. The Armed Forces may apply a six-month probationary period.
Employment degree: Full-time
Work location: Enköping. F 16 also has operations in other locations, which may involve occasional business trips.
Working hours: Mainly daytime. Evening and weekend work may occur during training activities.

Information about the Armed Forces and the recruiting unit:

Uppland Air Flotilla, F 16, is headquartered at Uppsala garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and monitoring of Uppsala Airport as well as the training of conscripts in various positions within the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, which directs combat aircraft in the air and manages the continuous surveillance of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several locations across the country and is an important part of the growth period that the Air Force is facing.

Employment with us means placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required.
