Our client is a cheerful 14-year-old boy living in eastern Västerås. We are looking for a driven, strong, and playful person with great patience. 

The boy has both motor and intellectual disabilities and needs help and support with almost everything. He cannot walk without support and will need your assistance with all transfers. This means you must be strong and in good physical condition. He will also need your help with daily activities such as eating, personal hygiene, and dressing, as well as encouragement to play where fine motor skills and social interaction are trained and stimulated.

The boy does not speak and mostly communicates through body language, but he is practicing using pictures and signs in his communication. It is an advantage if you have experience communicating with AAC, signs, and/or picture programs.

You will be involved in the boy's daily training, which includes conductive pedagogy, swimming, horseback riding, walks, etc. It is important that you find it enjoyable to stimulate and motivate an active leisure time!

The job takes place mostly at home, where there are also siblings in addition to the parents. Parts of the shifts may involve double assistance.

It is an advantage if you have previous experience working as a personal assistant or with children with disabilities, but it is not a requirement. The most important thing is that you are willing to learn, that you view positively the opportunity to learn everything you will gain from the job and how it contributes to your own development! We would therefore like you to attend training provided by the assistance company and/or habilitation.

We are looking for someone who;

wants to work with a workload of about 30% (distributed over 2-3 weekday afternoons/evenings + 1-2 weekends every other week). 

is strong and in good physical condition as lifting and transfers are part of the job.

is responsible and attentive as you will need to read a person who does not communicate verbally but rather through body language. 

is creative and playful, as this is required to stimulate play and interaction. 

is smoke-free.

Extra plus if you…

Have experience in creative work with small children (< 3 years).

Have experience with TAKK and specifically communication with pictures and signs. 

Have extensive experience with horses or dogs.

Would like to have at least 2 fixed shifts per week (the rest more flexible).

Have a driver's license and the ability to take the boy to various activities yourself.
