Treatment Assistants/Educators at SiS Youth Home Sundbo

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Sundbo, located outside Fagersta, receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues as well as criminality and substance abuse. We are tasked with providing care for young people with special care needs and accept boys who have been sentenced to closed youth care (LSU).

Job Description

We are now looking for treatment assistants/educators for hourly employment at SiS Youth Home Sundbo.

The goal of your assignment is to motivate our youth to adopt new and less risky ways of living. As treatment staff, you will help ensure that the routines in the department function as they should.

You play a significant role in providing stability and security for our youth, and you are responsible for the basics of daily life, such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You will also contribute to maintaining safety in the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work.

You will work on building good treatment relationships and contribute to ensuring that our youth receive the safety and security they need to break old habits.

Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, including treatment educators and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job can often be demanding but is also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule of days, evenings, weekends, or night shifts.

As a new hourly employee at SiS Youth Home Sundbo, you will undergo a tailored introductory training to prepare you for your assignment.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformations. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of people, great empathy, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in stressful situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are willing to share your knowledge with colleagues.

As a treatment assistant, you should have:

  • Completed secondary education
  • Driver's license (B)
  • Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing
  • Degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we assess as equivalent*

For employment as a treatment educator, the following is required:

  • Degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we assess as equivalent

Meritorious:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or within LSS care

*Exceptions from the requirement for at least a two-year post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468)

Employment:

The position is an hourly employment with a start date according to agreement. You choose when you can take shifts through our booking system.
