to apply for the job
The city of Västerås has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be required to answer a number of questions that will become an important part of our selection work.
You will support and guide individuals with harmful use and dependency issues during their journey of change and become part of a safe and competent team motivated by helping others.
Your Responsibilities
Your primary task is to support and guide your clients towards change and sustainable solutions. This includes both clients who are undergoing treatment in our daily operations and clients who have moved on but are in need of aftercare. You will conduct individual sessions and group meetings, plan interventions, and follow up on the development of your clients. You will primarily work based on relapse prevention using motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy. The role also includes conducting urine and breath tests.
Collaboration is an important part of the work and occurs with many different parties around the client, including social services, forensic psychiatry, and probation services. You care about and enjoy collaborating with others. Your team is close by, and you support each other in daily work, but you need to thrive in a role where you also work independently.
Your Qualifications
The most important thing is that you have a strong interest in treatment work and dependency issues. You are a confident person who has the ability to make assessments and prioritize in your work. You communicate clearly and have a respectful approach towards both clients and colleagues. It is easy for you to engage and involve others, and you are comfortable being in the spotlight in front of small and large groups. You are motivated by supporting individuals in a process of change and always want to contribute to creating the best possible meeting.
You have an academic degree as a social worker, behavioral scientist, or similar, and you also have training in CBT level 1. You have experience working with the target group. Knowledge and experience in working with comorbidity, relapse prevention, motivational interviewing (MI), and low-arousal approaches are positive. Computer skills and experience working with documentation programs will facilitate your work. Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing is a requirement as you will document and conduct conversations in Swedish. You need a B driver's license for manual transmission and be comfortable driving a car.
