As our operations grow, we are now looking for a support educator for our short-term activities

Are you a trained Support Educator who wants to help develop the operations and drive the educational work forward in the municipality of Köping?

Short-term stay is an intervention according to LSS and is aimed at children and adolescents who live at home and have intellectual disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders. Short-term homes provide temporary accommodation outside the home. The stay can be seen as a step towards increased independence for the child/adolescent. At the same time, it gives parents and other relatives time to rest, engage in their own activities, or spend more time with siblings.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Based on the target group at Humlan, we work with clear structure, communication, and low-arousal responses.

As staff, we need to support the children/adolescents in various activities, as many cannot engage in activities on their own due to their disabilities, often individually but also together in groups. This can range from walks, excursions, to crafts and watching movies.

The workgroup actively collaborates to maintain a clear way of expressing ourselves, to read the situation we are in, and to adapt our communication and actions based on the child/adolescent we meet. You should have good collaboration skills, be able to juggle many tasks at once, have an interest in the target group, and a desire to develop and learn new things together with your colleagues.

You should also be physically fit as long walks are part of the daily work. The job responsibilities also include personal care and practical tasks such as laundry, cleaning, cooking, etc.

As a support educator, you will work with the team coordinator to be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the educational work in the operations. Your role includes engaging, implementing, and anchoring evidence-based practices within the workgroup.

You will have additional responsibilities for coordinating and informing about social documentation. You will support colleagues in understanding why and how we should document, as well as follow up to ensure that implementation plans are updated and of good quality.

You will receive support in your work as a Support Educator from the municipality's Support Educator team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications: For the position, a post-secondary YH education as a Support Educator of 200 YH points or alternatively 60 higher education credits in the relevant field is required.

You must also be self-assured, have a clear way of expressing yourself, be patient, flexible, responsible, and attentive to the user and in collaboration with colleagues.

Meritorious: Experience working with people with disabilities. Practical experience of IBIC, clarifying pedagogy, low-arousal responses, and AAC. Knowledge and experience of welfare technology.

You must have a good command of the Swedish language to communicate with users and colleagues. Given the requirement to maintain social documentation, you need to have good computer skills and the ability to express yourself clearly and concisely in written Swedish.

A driver's license for manual transmission is meritorious.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends.
