to apply for the job

The city of Västerås has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will be an important part of our selection work.

Here you can make a real difference by leading treatment groups and supporting clients on their journey towards a drug- and alcohol-free life. The position combines independent responsibility with close collaboration in a highly engaged and competent team.

Your tasks

With a focus on relapse prevention, you will lead treatment groups, but based on the clients' needs, other themes may also be addressed. You are responsible for following up on attendance, any relapses, and ensuring that everything practical works around the group discussions. In addition to group discussions, you will also have some individual conversations with clients who need a little extra motivation and support. Behavioral activation with exercise and health-promoting activities is an important part of recovery, and you will plan and conduct daily activities such as walks, training, and outings together with the clients. The assignment also includes conducting urine and breath tests.

We collaborate with many different parties around the client, which may include social services, forensic psychiatry, and probation services. You care about and enjoy collaborating with others. Your team is close by, and you support each other in daily work, but you need to thrive in a role where you also work independently.

Your qualifications

The most important thing is that you have experience working with the target group and a strong interest in treatment work and addiction issues. You are a secure person who has the ability to make assessments and priorities in your work. You are clear in your communication and comfortable standing in front of small and large groups. It is easy for you to engage and involve others, and you have a respectful approach towards both clients and colleagues. You are motivated by supporting people in a change process and always want to contribute to creating the best possible meeting.

You have a post-secondary education, such as treatment pedagogue or social pedagogue, or you have equivalent knowledge through work experience. If you have knowledge and experience in cognitive behavioral therapy level 1 (CBT), relapse prevention, motivational interviewing (MI), and low-arousal approach, it is a plus. Computer skills and experience working in documentation programs will facilitate your work. Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing is a requirement as you must be able to document and conduct conversations in Swedish. You need to have a B driver's license for manual transmission and be comfortable driving a car.
