Job Responsibilities

The Labor Market Department in Malmö City is now looking for a driven and structured project manager who wants to lead an exciting and strategically important ESF project! The aim is to enhance the digital competence of our labor market secretaries and managers to ensure that Malmö City stands strong in the digital transition.

The project is a competence development project funded by the European Social Fund (ESF). The focus is on developing digital skills, system understanding, and new working methods for approximately 280 employees and their managers in the labor market department. The project is part of Malmö City's strategic investment to future-proof its operations and employees.

The competence development is divided into five thematic blocks:

  • Basic digital competence – for participants with low prior knowledge.
  • AI, cloud services, and digital security – important future areas.
  • Digital accessibility – adaptation of documents and communication.
  • New digital operational system – practical training, including super users.
  • Process-oriented and user-centered working methods – for effective digital transformation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving the project towards set goals and reporting to the project steering group and your immediate manager.
  • Ensuring that the project in all parts follows the project plan.
  • Ensuring all resources for the project within allocated budget limits.
  • Responsibility for results and budget.
  • Leading personnel working on the project.
  • Planning, coordinating, following up, and reporting within the framework of the project.
  • Working together with employees to develop activities, goals, and structure.
  • Continuously evaluating the efforts made to see which activities work and have an effect.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree in social sciences relevant to the position (180 credits). You have at least two years of relevant work experience and documented experience in leading and driving projects. Previous experience working with digital competence development, having responsibility for digital systems in the workplace, and training in digital systems is an advantage.

As a person, we see that you have the ability to translate assignments and goals into concrete actions through a strong initiative and clear results focus. You enjoy organizing and leading work, and have a good ability to prioritize effectively both for yourself and for others.

To succeed in the role of project manager, you need to enjoy external contacts, take initiative while being able to work goal-focused, structured, and solution-oriented. You communicate clearly and have the ability to express yourself so that different stakeholders understand the message. You value good collaboration to achieve the best results. You are outgoing, engaged, and enjoy giving presentations in various contexts. You have a very good ability to express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing.

About the workplace

The Labor Market Department is an important player in Malmö's labor market. We contribute to strengthening the job-seeking Malmö residents' opportunities for work and help them to become self-sufficient, either on their own or with the help of another actor. Within the Labor Market Department, we work with various labor market initiatives such as coaching, guidance, municipal labor market employment, internships, and matching. We have about 340 employees. Every year, we meet over 7,000 Malmö residents on their way to work and studies.

At Sweden's largest labor market and social administration, 2,800 employees work every day to strengthen Malmö residents. Together with Malmö residents, we want to increase opportunities for self-sufficiency and reduce homelessness. The support and administration unit has a main responsibility as an employer function for the city's labor market employees. The unit works, among other things, to perform, support, and coordinate a range of administrative activities and processes. It is important and enjoyable work, but far from simple.
