Job Responsibilities

Ångermanland District Court is seeking two summer law clerks for fixed-term employment of six weeks during the summer of 2026.

A position as a summer law clerk is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in court work during your studies. During the employment, you will gain insight into the practical work at the district court. Hopefully, it will also spark your interest in future work within the Swedish Courts.

As a summer law clerk, your tasks will largely correspond to those performed by newly hired law clerks at the court. You will see how practical court work is conducted and receive general training in legal analysis and methodology. You will participate in hearings, draft proposals for judgments and decisions, and conduct legal research. Other tasks that may arise at the court may also be included in the position. The work is carried out independently under the supervision of the law clerks.

We are looking for candidates studying law. To be considered, you must have completed courses in criminal law and procedural law at the time of employment, but you should not have finished your studies before the summer. You should have good grades from completed parts of your legal education and strong skills in the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Other important qualities include attention to detail, analytical ability, good teamwork skills, and the ability to organize and plan your work independently.

Interviews are usually not conducted for these short-term positions, and significant weight will be placed on your grades from the law program, your cover letter, and how you express your interest in working as a summer law clerk at our court. However, a short phone interview may be relevant.

Application

Written application with a cover letter, CV, and transcript of records.

Before employment, background checks may be conducted.
