Case Officer at the Rent and Lease Board in Sundsvall

The Rent and Lease Board in Sundsvall (hereinafter referred to as the Board) handles cases from Gävleborg, Västernorrland, and Jämtland counties. The Board is an administrative authority with judicial responsibilities and functions similarly to a court for certain disputes regarding rent, housing cooperatives, and leases. If a dispute cannot be adjudicated, the Board can mediate in the matter, i.e., attempt to help the parties reach a settlement.

The Board continuously strives to develop its working methods to meet high standards of legal certainty, efficiency, transparency, and accessibility. We aim for an open and pleasant working atmosphere where everyone's participation and accountability are valued.

The Board is co-located with the Sundsvall District Court and the Legal Aid Authority and shares a common management, budget, and administrative unit. In total, there are just over 50 employees across the three authorities. The Board consists of two case officers and two rental judges.

At the Rent and Lease Board in Sundsvall, two case officers and two rental judges work. One of the case officers will be on parental leave until August 2027, and we are now looking for a substitute.

Job Responsibilities

As a case officer at the Rent and Lease Board, you will prepare the Board's cases. Your tasks will include monitoring and registering incoming documents, scheduling and calling meetings, taking minutes at meetings, being the first point of contact with the public, and issuing the Board's decisions. Some meetings are held in other locations.

The work involves many contacts with parties, representatives, authorities, and the public. The work is responsible and involves independent decision-making in the preparatory work.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with the rental judges and case officers.

About You

We are looking for someone who is responsible and has a strong commitment to their work, values actively contributing to the development of the organization, and has a solution-focused approach. Furthermore, you are meticulous and flexible, with a pronounced sense of service and quality. As you contribute to ensuring that cases are resolved efficiently and legally, you must have very good judgment.

Since we are a small authority with few employees, you need to be able to see the big picture and easily collaborate in a team.

To be considered for employment, you must meet high standards regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. We require that you uphold legality, democratic values, and the state values that govern the operations of Sweden's Courts. We require that you follow applicable laws.

Great emphasis is placed on your personal qualities. Selection may occur during the application period.

Requirements

  • Completed and approved upper secondary education
  • Good computer skills, including the Office suite and other document management systems
  • Excellent ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish

Desirable

  • Post-secondary education relevant to the work, e.g., Paralegal training or other legal case officer training
  • Previous experience from similar work at a rent board, court, or other authority
