Senior Automation Engineer at Johnson & Johnson in Uppsala

Do you want to work at the forefront of technology in a highly regulated and innovation-driven environment? Adecco, on behalf of our client Johnson & Johnson, is now looking for an experienced Senior Automation Engineer for their operations in Uppsala. Here you will play a key role in driving and developing advanced automation and digitalization solutions within medical technology production.

About the role

As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, programming, troubleshooting, and further development of automation systems related to manufacturing equipment. You will lead automation projects from idea to validated solution and be an important partner to production, IT, and quality.

Your main responsibilities

  • Lead design, programming, and troubleshooting of automation systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA)
  • Define, implement, and validate automation projects according to J&J CSV methodology and GAMP 5
  • Drive automation and digitalization projects related to eBR and SCADA integration
  • Implement and optimize vision systems (Körber/Seidenader, Cognex VIDI & Shaman)
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to improve productivity, quality, and data integrity
  • Act as OT Cybersecurity Lead in close collaboration with IT
  • Conduct root cause analyses and CAPA work for deviations
  • Be the technical system owner for assigned computerized systems
  • Function as SME during audits, validations, and investigations
  • Contribute to a culture characterized by innovation, safety, and continuous improvement

You will be employed by Adecco and work as a consultant at Johnson & Johnson, one of the world's leading companies in life sciences and medical technology. The assignment is long-term with excellent development opportunities. There is an option for remote work of 20%.

About you

Education

  • BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or similar

Experience and skills

  • At least 5 years of experience in industrial automation, preferably within pharmaceuticals or medical technology
  • Experience in project management within highly automated production environments
  • Very good knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, Rockwell, Siemens TIA Portal, CodeSys)
  • Experience with vision systems such as Seidenader and/or Cognex
  • Good understanding of MES/eBR integration, OPC, and industrial communication protocols
  • Programming skills in Python and SQL
  • Good knowledge of GAMP 5, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820 & Part 11
  • Strong problem-solving skills and documentation habits
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; Swedish is a plus
