Chief Clerk at Skaraborg District Court
Skaraborg District Court is a medium-sized court with nearly 60 employees across two case units and a service unit. The two case units handle criminal cases, civil cases, and matters, while the service unit is responsible for administration, reception, and registration of new cases.
At the case units, court clerks, judges, legal advisors, and trainees work, and to develop the operations and create a more efficient and sustainable organization, we are now looking for a chief clerk. We offer a developing job for those seeking a challenging and responsible role in a socially important and exciting organization.
Together with other courts in the country, the district court forms the foundation of the judiciary and is a cornerstone of the democratic society. We are located in modern and bright premises in central Skövde, close to the transportation center. The district court strives to be an open and modern workplace with engaged employees.
About the Position
As a chief, you will have personnel responsibility for the clerks at the district court, which includes conducting employee reviews, salary discussions, and ensuring that your employees have the right skills and opportunities for development.
In your role as chief clerk, your main task is to lead and distribute the work for the clerks, create good conditions for how the work should be carried out, and promote a good working environment. The assignment requires active and close leadership, which involves daily check-ins and prioritizations as well as holding clerk meetings. You report directly to the chief judge and are part of the district court's management team, where you work together to develop the operations with a focus on creating an efficient and sustainable organization at the court. Within the framework of your managerial role, you will also work operationally as a court clerk to some extent.
Your task includes promoting good cooperation and climate among the various professional categories at the district court, focusing on clerks, trainees, judges, and registrars. Through good and individualized leadership, you encourage your employees to participate and take responsibility. The work also includes ensuring that the court clerks work according to uniform and efficient routines, contributing to the development of our digital working methods, resource planning, and being part of the recruitment processes regarding court clerks. The work is very varied, and you must be able to handle several different tasks simultaneously.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has completed secondary education. Post-secondary education may be an advantage but is not a requirement. Experience in leadership or supervisory roles, or handling experience from a court, is also an advantage. You have managerial and leadership qualities and a good understanding of how a government agency operates.
You should have the desire and ability to contribute to and develop the district court's operations and meet high demands for quality, speed, and good service to citizens. To succeed in the role, you need to be clear in your communication, have good judgment, and high integrity. You are a present leader who can engage and inspire employees to work towards the district court's common goals from a holistic perspective.
You find it easy to prioritize and structure work for yourself and others. You are attentive, flexible, and have good self-awareness. In the organization, you contribute with your ability to collaborate. The work may involve sudden situations that place high demands on your ability to prioritize and take initiative. Since the pace is high at times and you will handle many tasks simultaneously, you need to be able to plan your work in the short and long term and have a high work capacity.
You should also have an excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
Great importance will be placed on your personal qualities such as personal maturity, responsibility, attention to detail, good judgment, and a well-developed initiative and collaboration ability.
To be considered for employment, you need to be assessed as suitable. This means that you uphold democratic values and act in accordance with the state value framework that governs the operations of Sweden's courts. We also require you to follow Swedish laws. Prior to employment, background checks may be conducted.
We Offer
There are good opportunities for professional development through training organized by the Swedish Courts Authority. You will be offered attractive benefits, such as at least 28 days of vacation, occupational pension, wellness allowance, and flexible working hours. On certain holidays, you will have shorter working days.

Permanent employment with a six-month probationary period.
Individual salary setting; please indicate your salary expectations in your application.
