Job Description
As a unit manager in the building permit department, you will be part of an engaged and competent team working together.
One of our four building permit managers is retiring, and we are now looking for someone to take over the role.
In the building permit department, we handle permit cases, supervision, and reports of illegal construction, as well as applications for housing adaptations. The department assists other operations with knowledge already in the planning stage to ensure feasibility. We also provide advice and support on permit-related issues and help customers through the building permit process.
As a unit manager with us, you will be responsible for a unit of 18 employees, where you have personnel, work environment, and budget responsibilities. The team includes building permit administrators, building inspectors, and coordinators. You will be available to support employees in discussing questions and making decisions on specific cases.
The role includes collaboration with external customers, departments within the administration, and other administrations within the city. Therefore, it is crucial for the unit manager to understand both relevant legislation and the customer's perspective to have the necessary conversations to move the process forward.
As a unit manager with us, you will be part of the department's management team and thus an important cog in the department's progress as well as development work. Together, we work to achieve our common goals, where you contribute by leading, developing, and following up on building permit operations.
Qualifications
You have a relevant university degree in construction or real estate at least at the bachelor's level or equivalent. This could be as an engineer, architect, or conservator.
To succeed in the role, we see that you have previous experience in management roles where you have had personnel, budget, and work environment responsibilities. You also need to have knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations within the building permit process.
As changes constantly occur in our area, it is important that you thrive in that environment and have the ability to adapt your work when things change. Since the role involves many contacts, we need you to be a skilled and clear communicator who can adjust your communication according to the recipient, target group, and situation. You can stand by decisions made and also convey uncomfortable messages when necessary. Since we collaborate a lot within the department and in the management team, it is important that you are good at seeing the common mission and enjoy working with others to achieve the best possible results.
If you have previously worked as a manager in the construction or real estate sector or have other experience from the construction industry, it is an advantage.
Other
As we have already decided on the recruitment channels we wish to use for this recruitment, we kindly but firmly ask not to be contacted for further offers of competence mediation, advertising, and recruitment assistance.
