About the position

The Communication Unit at Karolinska University Hospital is responsible for overarching strategic and operational communication issues and works integratively with both internal and external communication as well as media relations.

The hospital's press/media group consists of two press secretaries and is led by a press manager.

We are now seeking an experienced press secretary for a 12-month temporary position. The press service prepares materials, serves the media, and provides support to spokespersons.

Together with the press manager and colleagues, you will plan and follow up on the hospital's press and media work from both a short- and long-term perspective. You will monitor the external environment and develop press work towards relevant target groups and arenas - regionally, nationally, and internationally. This also means that you will collaborate with relevant partners and stakeholders. Furthermore, you will have regular dialogue with the hospital's operations on media issues and provide operational support as needed, such as media training. The role also involves participating in certain official external visits and press contacts related to the hospital. The press team collaborates closely with other employees within the Communication Unit.

We are looking for someone who

• is curious, meticulous, and driven by finding and telling stories about Karolinska University Hospital's care, research, innovation, and development from various perspectives
• has a very good understanding of news evaluation and media logic
• is an excellent writer who masters both long and short news texts in various formats, as well as texts for social media
• is unpretentious and understands that your tasks may change at short notice to adapt content based on current situations in our channels
• enjoys interacting with many different people throughout the workday, with contacts ranging from senior executives to employees at all levels
• values effective collaboration and sees the importance of building good relationships within the hospital's organization.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Higher education in journalism, media and communication science, or other relevant education for the position.
• At least three years of work experience in a similar role.
• You have good language skills in Swedish and English.

Meritorious:

• Previous experience in a politically governed organization or other complex operations
