Officer with Responsibility for Interinstitutional Affairs Including Relations with the European Parliament – EU Representation, Brussels
EU Coordination, The Prime Minister's Office
Do you thrive in the center of events? We are looking for a driven officer with responsibility for interinstitutional affairs including relations with the European Parliament at the EU Representation in Brussels. We offer you an exciting and central role in an international environment right in the heart of events.
Your Workday. Sweden's Tomorrow.
As a seconded advisor, you will be responsible for monitoring interinstitutional affairs including relations with the European Parliament. You will advise management and officers at the representation, represent Sweden in working groups and contexts where EU representations are represented by corresponding functions, and actively participate in the General Affairs Working Group (GAG).
You will work strategically to deepen contacts, create networks, and develop working methods that strengthen the impact of Swedish positions. You will ensure that Swedish interests are communicated clearly and at an early stage to relevant actors. Your work will involve swiftly and continuously reporting on development trends in a often very dynamic and complex environment regarding both institutional aspects and significant negotiations on substance and political priorities. The work is conducted independently under the leadership of the representation's management and in close collaboration with colleagues at both the representation and EU coordination in the Prime Minister's Office and other departments.
Your Background
We are looking for someone with an academic degree in a field that the employer deems relevant for the position. You have experience and a good understanding of EU negotiations as well as good knowledge of the EU's organization, working methods, and regulations in various policy areas. The role also requires good knowledge of the Government Offices' organization and working methods, as well as an understanding of what is required in a politically governed organization.
It is advantageous if you have experience working in the Government Offices, including work with EU issues. Experience from working at the representation in Brussels or within any of the EU institutions is also valuable. Furthermore, experience working with the European Parliament and trilogue work is seen as an asset, as well as knowledge of other EU languages.
Your Qualities
The Government Offices' employee criteria are wholeness, development, results. Everyone working in the Government Offices needs to have a holistic view and collaborate for the best of the organization. You are expected to contribute your perspective and expertise while being open to others' perspectives. You will bring ideas and new approaches to improve and develop the organization and your own competence. You are results-oriented in your actions and adapt when needs and directions change.
For this role, we are looking for a person with good communication skills, both orally and in writing, in Swedish and English. You need to be able to build and maintain relevant networks and contribute to effective collaboration. The role also requires good judgment and the ability to work persistently in complex and sometimes long-term processes.
