Finance Department

The finance department of the Police Authority is tasked with shaping and driving the authority's strategic governance and follow-up, which determines what the authority should achieve in terms of results and effects. The department also allocates financial resources to ensure that the operations can reach the decided direction and follows up on the effective and sustainable use of these resources.

Controlling and Accounting Unit

The unit contributes to and implements financial management in police regions and national departments. Additionally, the unit creates conditions for regions and departments to manage state resources well through effective and purposeful processes for budgeting, follow-up, analysis, and forecasts. The unit is also responsible for ensuring that the authority has accurate and fair financial reporting. We are about 140 employees and are located in several places across the country. This position is based in Kungsholmen, Stockholm.

We are now recruiting a controller for the Economy IT group. Economy IT is a group within the controlling and accounting unit that supports the IT department. The IT department is responsible for all IT used by the authority's 40,000 employees. Economy IT consists of five employees and a group manager who is also the finance manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of financial controller, you will work closely with both colleagues and budget-responsible managers at various levels. The work is performed with a high degree of independence and mainly involves budgeting, follow-up, analysis, and forecasting. You will participate in budget and follow-up dialogues and analyze and report outcomes and forecasts to budget-responsible managers. The work includes presentations for management groups and teamwork. The role also involves preparing calculations and developing financial decision-making materials, along with other finance-related tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • A university degree in finance, not vocational training or equivalent education/experience deemed equivalent by the employer
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in financial controller work as assessed by the employer
  • Very good knowledge of Excel.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

It is advantageous if you also have:

  • Experience working in larger and/or complex organizations as assessed by the Police Authority
  • Experience with larger established business systems such as UBW (formerly Agresso) or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Experience working in a structured and analytical manner with large amounts of information and experience presenting financial data/information effectively both orally and in writing.

Personal Qualities

To succeed in this role, you need to be analytical, strategic with the ability to identify what is most important and see the big picture. You are communicative and have a good pedagogical ability, as you will need to explain financial relationships in dialogue with budget-responsible managers and colleagues. You enjoy being self-driven and taking your own initiatives within given frameworks, but you can also quickly shift focus when the situation requires it.

You act professionally and have the ability to see the assignment and your role in a larger context. You enjoy collaborating at different organizational levels. We value your willingness and ability to contribute to the development of the organization. You are also curious about the opportunities of digital development.
