Skaraborg Hospital (SkaS) operates in several locations in Skaraborg, including Falköping, Lidköping, Mariestad, and Skövde. About Us

The surgical department in Skövde is the largest department in the hospital, has the most emergency places, and primarily provides emergency care. The work is varied, and in addition to the acute flow, we also have some planned care. We are in an expansive phase and will further increase the number of care places during the spring, and we will also become a disaster care department.

We care for patients with diseases of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract as well as surgical diseases such as malignant melanoma, breast cancer, and endocrine diseases. Patients with burns, head injuries, and fall trauma also come here. We also have a portion of patients who come in with so-called open return, which means that patients with cancer diagnoses do not have to seek care through the emergency department.

For us, it is important to work on development and continuous improvements - all to offer the best care for our patients, as well as a stimulating work environment for our staff.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of healthcare assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of healthcare assistant within healthcare and social services.
