Housing with Special Services

Housing with special services is an adapted form of accommodation for adults with disabilities who need support in their daily lives. There are two forms of housing with special services: group housing and service housing. The operation is part of the healthcare and social services sector in Skövde municipality.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking for support educators for our operations at Tingshusbacken, Timmervägen, and Sörgårdsgatan!

We are primarily looking for a support educator with relevant education and experience, but we are also open to hiring a support assistant if we do not find the right candidate for the support educator position.

We are looking for someone who wants a rewarding and developing job. In the role of support educator within housing with special services, you have the opportunity to contribute to ensuring that our users can achieve a high quality of life in their daily routines. Based on individual needs and wishes, you support our users by providing practical and everyday assistance. You will also be part of the daily work with the users in their daily activities alongside the support assistants. In a pedagogical manner, you stimulate and motivate the individual towards participation and an independent life. The assignment also includes documentation work in our systems.

We are a team, and we support and help each other. In the role of support educator, you contribute to the operation with your valuable in-depth knowledge in the field. You are a support to colleagues in the work of social documentation. You also assist your colleagues with the development and use of individually adapted pedagogical methods that support the individual's participation and independence. Your role also includes environmental monitoring to contribute to the unit's development and improvement work. You will participate in network meetings with other support educators.

You assist users with everyday activities such as household chores, personal care, and leisure activities. The job responsibilities may also include lifting, administering medication, handling aids, and other tasks according to the Health and Medical Services Act (HSL).

Within the healthcare and social services sector, we work flexibly between different units. This means that you will also work shifts at other residences than the one you normally work at.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with work experience in support for individuals with disabilities and a vocational education as a support educator or other equivalent education. It is a plus (but not a requirement) if you have knowledge of conversation methodology, such as motivational interviewing (MI), social stories, or drawing talk. Experience with clear pedagogical methods, low-affect responses, and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) is also meritorious.

For a support assistant, a high school diploma and passing grades from the care and nursing program, child and leisure program, or other equivalent education are required.

As a person, you are calm and secure and have a respectful, good, and adapted approach. To succeed in the role, we see that you have good collaboration skills, are solution-focused, and can easily adapt to new conditions. To thrive in the role, we believe you have the ability to take personal responsibility in your professional role, are proactive, and used to working independently.

In this role, it is important that you can communicate verbally and in writing in Swedish since you and the user need to understand each other, but also to carry out documentation. You are computer literate and preferably have experience with social documentation.

It is desirable that you have a B driver's license for manual transmission.
