Personal Assistant for Freja

We are looking for someone who wants a meaningful job as a personal assistant and enjoys working closely with a child and her family.

With us, you will become an important part of a safe team around Freja. We are looking for someone who wants to work hourly or on a fixed part-time basis, with the possibility of more shifts if needed.

About Freja

Freja is 8 years old and lives in Påvelund with her family. She has extensive disabilities and needs help with everything in her daily life – but her life is full of joy, warmth, and closeness. She loves warm baths, when someone sings loudly for her (off-key singing is perfectly fine), feeling the sun on her face, and receiving a lot of affection. Some days are more challenging, and your most important task is to help Freja relax and feel as good as possible.

On weekdays, Freja attends a special school, where she has the school's assistants. If you work in the afternoon, you will meet her after school and travel home with her on the school bus. Double assistance occurs almost all waking hours, so you often work together with a colleague and sometimes also with one of Freja's parents.

About the Position / Working Hours

We are now looking for 1-3 assistants who can work at one or more of the following times, mainly from March/April onwards:

• Weekday Mornings
  07:00–09:00, Monday–Friday
  The morning shifts during weekdays start in our home in Västra Frölunda and end at the school. During the spring, Freja will attend school in Örgryte, and from mid-June, the school will move back to Högsbo, near Axel Dahlströms torg. The need is particularly high from mid-April to June/July.
• Weekends, Saturday-Sunday
  07:00 – 11:00 / 15:00
  09:00 - 21:00
  11:00 – 22:00 / 15:00 – 22:00
• Afternoon/Evening, Weekdays
  Mon, Tue, Thu: 15:00 - 21:00 / 22:00
  Wed and Fri: 13:30 – 21:00 / 22:00
• Awake Night, Weekdays and Weekends
  22:00 – 09:00
  For the right person, there is the possibility to work night shifts.
• Extra Daytime Shifts
  There is also the possibility for extra daytime shifts, 08:00/09:00- 15:00, in case of illness or leave.

For Freja, continuity and security are crucial, and it takes time to get to know her needs and signals. Therefore, we are looking for someone who wants a long-term job – either hourly or on a fixed schedule (part-time) – and who can work over the summer and beyond.

Who Are We Looking For?

We believe that you:

• are responsible, secure, and stress-resistant
• have a warm and empathetic manner
• can handle physical tasks (lifting, pilates ball, and sitting with Freja in your lap)
• enjoy working closely with children
• speak fluent Swedish
• are smoke-free

Extra points if you have a driver's license, experience in assistance, children, or epilepsy – but the right attitude and personal chemistry outweigh everything!

GIL has coordinated personal assistance since 1989. The cooperative has roots in the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that those with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. Normally, the person entitled to assistance is the closest manager of the assistants, or a person with particularly in-depth knowledge of the person entitled to assistance is appointed.

As a personal assistant, you support a person with disabilities to live the life they want to live. To attract and retain competent and satisfied assistants, we invest in training and events. We believe that development and meeting others lead to motivated and secure assistants who enjoy and find it fun to work with us.

• GIL has a collective agreement with Fremia-communal.
• GIL offers its employees up to 2,500 SEK/year in contributions for wellness and health.
