We believe that progress and opportunities are best created together. Welcome to a place where collaboration makes a difference.

Are you a materials engineer with a strong connection to electronics and electronics production? Do you want to combine technical expertise in printed circuit boards, components, and soldering processes with a leading role where you can develop both technology and people? Do you thrive in an environment where you collaborate with many different competencies throughout the product lifecycle?

You will be part of the Fighter Core Capabilities (FCC) business unit, which delivers world-class signal intelligence systems and self-protection systems for the next generation of Gripen and GlobalEye. FCC is part of the Surveillance business area.

The Materials Technology section is expanding and is organized within the Hardware Engineering department, which is responsible for the hardware development of our products. The department consists of approximately 120 employees distributed across seven sections with broad expertise - from electronics and mechanics to structural analysis.

Here you will have the opportunity to combine technical depth with leadership and contribute to the next generation of advanced electronic systems.

Your Role

As a materials engineer focused on electronics at Saab in Solna, you will work broadly with material and process issues related to our advanced electronic systems within radar warning, electronic warfare, and countermeasure systems. The focus is on electronics-related materials and processes such as printed circuit boards (PCBs), circuit boards, electronic components, soldering and assembly processes, fluxes, surface treatments, and cabling.

You will be involved in material selection, qualification, analysis, and testing, both internally in Solna and in collaboration with other Saab sites. An important part of the role is to ensure robust, manufacturable, and future-proof solutions from perspectives such as quality, reliability, environment, and work environment.

The role also includes taking team leadership responsibility for materials and electronics-related competencies within the section. This means that you support and lead colleagues in their daily work, prioritize tasks, and act as a technical coordinator and contact point for incoming assignments.

You will contribute with material and process engineering expertise to designers in system design, electronics, and mechanical design, and be an important link to purchasing, industrialization, production, and quality.

Communication skills and collaboration are crucial to succeed in this role. Your curiosity, technical breadth, and ability to engage and guide others are highly valued.

Main Responsibilities

  • Technical support to the design organization and development projects related to electronics-related materials and processes (PCBs, components, soldering, flux, surface treatments, cabling, etc.)
  • Conduct material and process investigations, plan and execute testing, and document and report results
  • Participate in and drive work on material and process qualification, reliability, and lifespan issues
  • Collaboration with functions such as Quality, Purchasing, Industrialization, Production, and other Saab facilities
  • Team leadership responsibility: technical guidance, prioritization, mentorship, and development of the team's working methods and competencies

Your Profile

You have a strong ability to collaborate and communicate with different roles and competencies. As a person, you are analytical, structured, and have a holistic perspective. You are confident in taking responsibility, making decisions, and leading others, while also being receptive and supportive. You thrive in a technically complex environment and have a genuine interest in electronics, materials, and production.

Required Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or engineering degree in materials technology, electronics, chemical engineering, or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in electronics-related materials and/or manufacturing processes
  • Good understanding of electronics production, such as PCB manufacturing, assembly, and soldering processes
  • Good collaboration and communication skills
  • Very good command of English, both spoken and written; Swedish is considered desirable.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in team leadership, technical leadership, or coordinating roles
  • Familiarity with AS/EN9102 and requirements related to special processes
  • Knowledge of reliability, lifespan, and environmental impact of electronic systems
  • Experience with material and process analysis methods in electronics
  • Previous work close to supply chain, production, or industrialization

Your application can be in Swedish or English. Selection is ongoing, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable security protection regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, involve requirements for certain citizenship.
