Do you want to help drive the future of train travel? SJ is now making its largest investments ever in the vehicle fleet. As a Vehicle Engineer in Team Zeta, you will play a key role in the development of our new regional trains – with a particular focus on drive systems and electrical power solutions.

Your upcoming roleWe are now making our largest investments ever in our vehicle fleets so that more people can choose the train for sustainable travel. We now offer an opportunity to be part of this incredibly exciting work where you will have a key role as a vehicle engineer. As part of these investments, we are conducting extensive work to develop SJ's new regional train Zeta.

In the role of Vehicle Engineer in Team Zeta, you will have an important role in the work with SJ's new regional trains. You will be part of a wonderful team and together with your colleagues carry out the extensive, challenging, and exciting project all the way to launch and thereafter management.

You will work with:

  • Reviewing the international supplier's compliance with requirements in electrical/power systems

  • Reviewing functions and calculations against applicable requirements

  • Following up SJ's requirements with the supplier, which involves proactive work with the supplier in all verification and validation activities of electrical installations/drive systems on the vehicle (propulsion)

  • Conducting technical investigations prior to internal decisions

  • Close collaboration with the maintenance supplier during the management phase

  • Investigating/analyzing failure outcomes

Team Zeta is part of the Vehicle Division, which is responsible for the lifecycle of the vehicle fleet and ensures that entire, clean, and safe trains are delivered on time. The Vehicle Division has about 900 employees with diverse competencies, such as technical specialists, vehicle engineers, comfort operators, safety coordinators, vehicle operators, and production developers.

Expectations for the candidate we are looking for

We are looking for self-driven employees who enjoy problem-solving and want to learn about both proven and new technical solutions. As a person, you are used to working in teams, good at collaborating, and have strong communication skills, are proactive, and take responsibility. You are socially competent and accustomed to establishing and maintaining contacts, preferably in international environments. Complex issues do not intimidate you, and you understand both the big picture and the details. You are unpretentious, curious, and generous in relation to your colleagues and contribute to a strong improvement culture. A strong interest in technical development and building the future of climate-smart travel by rail.

  • Technical generalist skills and high competence in the field of electrical power.

  • Master's degree in engineering or equivalent.

  • Several years of experience in electrical systems, drive systems/propulsion, and electrical calculations.

  • Experience in the railway industry is an advantage.

  • Good Swedish and English skills, both spoken and written.

  • Good IT skills (MS Office environment).
