About the position

Tierp Parish is looking for a driven deacon who sees the strength in collaboration – both with colleagues and with parishioners. With us, you will have a versatile and significant role where you meet people in various life situations and contribute to creating security and community. Together with parishioners of all ages, you will help develop our activities and build a present church in the community.

Your responsibilities

As a deacon with us, you will among other things:

• Be involved in developing the diaconal work together with a deacon colleague
• Collaborate with the municipality
• Lead discussion groups, services, and participate in worship.
• Meet people of all ages, aid, and international work
• Create social meeting places and work with integration.
• Work with pastoral care and home visits

About us

Tierp Parish includes three congregations, located in an environment with a rich variety of landscapes: Hållnäs-Österlövsta, Västland, and Tolfta. The parish has seven beautiful churches dating from the 1300s onwards. The parish also has a vibrant cultural and concert life, with Lövstabruk as a central point.

There are good commuting opportunities. It takes about 35 minutes by train from Uppsala and 30 minutes from Gävle. At Nathanelgården in Tierp, there are also three service cars available for employees to get around the parish.

About you

We are looking for someone who is ordained as a deacon within the Church of Sweden, but you who are currently in training and soon to be ordained are also welcome to apply.

Previous experience in diaconal work is meritorious. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities. You have a good ability to meet people and collaborate with colleagues. You are proactive and have an easy time creating structure and coordinating different parts of the work, while also being flexible.

Requirements

• Ordained deacon within the Church of Sweden

• Driver's license B
