Uppsala Parish

The Church of Sweden Uppsala consists of six urban parishes in collaboration and is also responsible for Uppsala cemeteries.

Five of the parishes formed Uppsala Parish in 2014 with a joint board and leadership. Together we want to be the local church for 180,000 residents of Uppsala.

Deacon for the University Church

Welcome to an ecumenical team that shapes and invites to community and meeting places. You will be an important link between the university, nations, campus, and the local parishes.

In this position, you will be part of the University Church's collegium and have your office in the Uppsala Student Union's house. You will also belong to the work team of the Parish of Helga Trefaldighet.

Job Responsibilities

The University Church in Uppsala is part of the social network for students at Uppsala's two universities, and you will be part of a team that works together on the following tasks:

• Individual conversations and grief groups
• Training and workshops on norms, values, group dynamics, communication, and conflict management for student groups and staff, often in close collaboration with student health services
• Presence at nations and campus
• Emergency crisis management in case of death and other crises, crisis preparedness
• Being a link between students and the local parishes

Important challenges for the future include interfaith dialogue and meeting the needs of international students.

We are looking for someone who

• Is an ordained deacon in the Church of Sweden
• Is ecumenically well-grounded
• Has good experience in pastoral care and preferably further education
• Has experience in parish work
• Speaks and writes English fluently

We place great emphasis on personal suitability, and you do not need to have experience in everything mentioned above, but you need to be willing to learn and engage in the tasks.

The position includes work during both daytime and evening hours as well as some weekends.

We would prefer that you have a B driver's license.

About the Position

The position is a permanent full-time employment. A probationary period may apply. Start date according to agreement.
