The County Administrative Board is an important coordinating link in the interface between the state, region, municipality, business, and individuals. The board works to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county while taking into account regional conditions and prerequisites. This includes balancing important societal interests and resolving goal conflicts. The board has a broad and multifaceted mission in terms of tasks and subject areas. The authority's main tasks include permit assessments, supervision, knowledge dissemination, and coordination in many societal areas. About 230 people work with us, and our chief is the governor.

Description

Do you want to contribute to the democratic process in the 2026 elections? On Sunday, September 13, 2026, elections will be held for the parliament, regional councils, and municipal councils, and the County Administrative Board in Värmland County is the regional electoral authority responsible for the final counting of votes.

Job Responsibilities

The tasks of an election worker may include working as a vote counter, counting group leader, control counter, registrar, or archive staff. As a vote counter, you will be responsible for counting, reviewing, assessing, and sorting ballots as well as preparing lists. As a controller, you will review the work performed by the vote counters. There is also a need for staff who register and archive and provide materials.

As an election worker, you will work with at least one other person, so you need to have good collaboration skills. You should be aware that the work can be monotonous and requires endurance. The work takes place on-site at the County Administrative Board's location.

Qualifications

Are you the one we are looking for? For the role of election worker, we want you to:

  • be at least 18 years old when the employment begins.
  • have good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • not run as a candidate for a party in the 2026 elections, as you would be considered biased if you simultaneously run for parliament, regional council, or municipal council.
  • We want you to have good collaboration skills. It is important that you can follow routines and be guided in your work. Furthermore, you are meticulous with a good numerical memory and flexible.

Meritorious for Employment

  • previous experience in vote counting at the County Administrative Board's final vote counting.
  • experience in election work, such as a ballot receiver or election observer.
  • or other experience that we consider relevant to the work.

Conditions

The employment is a special fixed-term position during the period of September 14, 2026 – and at most until October 2, 2026.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00. The end date is preliminary based on voter turnout. To be eligible for employment, you must have completed an approved mandatory training of about three to four hours, which will take place sometime during the period of September 1-3. You must also be able to work all days between September 14 and October 2, 2026.

Security interviews may be conducted for certain positions before a possible employment.

Compensation

Vote counters, counting group leaders, registrars, and archive staff will receive 160 SEK per hour excluding vacation pay.

Control counters will receive 188 SEK per hour excluding vacation pay.
