Communicator Wanted at Karlstad Diocese

Karlstad Diocese is looking for an experienced communicator who enjoys working consultatively.

You will support a number of parishes and work both operationally and strategically with your base in the communications group at the diocesan office.

Karlstad Diocese is one of the 13 dioceses of the Church of Sweden and consists of parishes in Värmland and Dalsland. The diocese's task is to promote and supervise parish life, its administration, funeral services, and to manage its forests and land.

Approximately 55 people are employed at Karlstad Diocese, which has its office in central Karlstad. You will be an important part of a competent and engaged team working to strengthen and develop the church's ability to communicate broadly and deeply, with both older and younger audiences.

About the Position as Coaching Communicator

You will be organizationally affiliated with the communications group at the diocesan office in Karlstad but will primarily work with tactical and operational communication support to several parishes. The focus will be on upgrading the communication work, especially regarding web-based channels, together with the parish staff. We will place great importance on your personal qualities and are particularly looking for someone who is attentive, collaborative, curious, and persuasive. It is therefore important that you enjoy working consultatively and are willing to travel for your work.

Responsibilities

• Act as a communication advisor for parish management
• Work operationally and strategically with the parishes' websites and social media (primarily Meta platforms)
• Support the parish in coordinating, leading, and setting requirements for suppliers and consultants, particularly related to advertising.
• Stay updated within the operational area.
• Conduct basic training, e.g., in social media
• Implement and create simpler printed materials according to the graphic profile
• You will have support and the opportunity to collaborate with communication colleagues both at the diocesan office and in larger parishes.

Qualifications

• Relevant higher education in communication or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of experience in qualified communication work, preferably longer and with experience as a consultant
• Experienced web editor – the Church of Sweden's website has a common national structure where the parish's own section contains a variety of templated options to work with.
• Experienced social media editor, especially on Meta
• Basic experience with the most common Adobe programs
• Ability to work consultatively and act as a sounding board.

We expect you to share the values of the Church of Sweden. You must have a B driver's license.
