Economist for Kristinehamn Municipality
Do you want to contribute to the development of Kristinehamn Municipality through qualified economic work? We are now looking for an economist.
The finance function consists of nine employees located at the municipal management office on Kungsgatan in central Kristinehamn. We serve as the municipal executive board's staff in economic matters. We lead and coordinate the municipality's strategic financial management and monitoring work. This means that we support the municipality's other operations with budgeting, monitoring, accounting, and financial analyses.
The entire municipal management consists of approximately 110 employees in the areas of administration, digitalization, finance, secretariat, communication, personnel, and planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As an economist in Kristinehamn Municipality, you will play a central role in supporting both operations and management with financial analyses, monitoring, and decision support. You will work with budgeting, forecasts, accounting, and reporting, as well as developing and streamlining our financial routines and processes. You may be responsible for certain cross-municipal projects. Primarily, you will be the economist for the Environmental and Urban Planning Department, the Cultural Department, the Digitalization Department, and two joint committees (the Supervisory Committee and the Administrative Committee).
Your tasks will include:
- Ongoing financial monitoring and analysis
- Preparing materials for interim and annual accounts, financial statistics
- Conducting internal training on finance
- Preparing budgets and forecasts
- System management
- Quality assurance of financial materials
- Support and advice to managers and operations
- Contributing to the development of the municipality's financial routines and processes
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree in finance or other education/experience deemed equivalent
- Experience in qualified economic work, preferably within the public sector
- Good IT skills, especially in Excel and financial systems
- Experience in implementing a new financial system (meritorious)

With your problem-solving analytical skills, you identify challenges and find sustainable solutions that strengthen the municipality's development. Personal suitability will be highly valued.
