Lawyer for Stockholm City Mission's Mobile Advisory and Support Team
Stockholm City Mission's mobile advisory and support team targets people living in social and/or economic exclusion. We offer support to children and adults who wish to change their life situation.
About the Role
You will work in a small team together with four to five social workers. The main task of the team is to provide individual support so that individuals can have their social rights fulfilled through third parties and/or knowledge of possible courses of action in relation to applicable laws and regulations. This involves providing advice and support in contacts with authorities, as well as exploring different courses of action based on the individual's situation. Many of those we meet need support regarding their case with the Migration Agency or Social Services (currently mainly financial assistance and family law), but we also support in areas such as labor law, tenancy law, and children's rights. We offer both short-term support in the form of drop-in services and long-term individual support. The work is based in central Stockholm but we work mobile in different areas to be present where the needs are greatest. The role requires you to be flexible, take responsibility, and easily create contact with new people.
The main tasks in the role of lawyer are as follows:
- Provide individual legal advice and support to individuals in legal matters
- Act as a legal representative
- Assist in interpreting authority information
- Support in contacts with authorities to access welfare, for example by helping to fill out applications and appeal decisions where legal expertise is needed
- Contribute information, knowledge, research, and theories to develop the operations
- Monitor the external environment and keep track of developments in Swedish law in relevant areas for the assignment
- Identify and document any deficiencies in the social systems
You have:
- Law degree
- Good knowledge of migration law and/or social law
- Documented work experience of having worked practically with individual legal advice.
- Experience in appealing authority decisions
- Good ability to convey complex information in a pedagogical manner
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience in child law, family law, tenancy law, and/or labor law
- Experience in advising individuals in vulnerable situations
- Language skills beyond Swedish and English, such as Dari, Persian, Arabic, and Spanish.
You identify with Stockholm City Mission's values and operational idea. You are creative and solution-oriented. Furthermore, you have good collaboration skills and can cooperate and communicate with a range of stakeholders. You have good communication skills and can express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish.
We Offer
The position is located in the Mobile Advisory and Support Unit within the area of Meeting Places and is a 100% temporary position. Start date: 2026-02-23 to 2026-08-07. Recruitment is ongoing.

Welcome with your application!
Stockholm City Mission is a non-profit organization that works to create a more humane society for all. We do this by working with social care, education, and labor integration. Something we have been doing since 1853 when we were founded to help those who were worst off in society.
Our goal is for everyone to have new life chances, strengthen their own power, and be involved in society. Stockholm City Mission offers people emergency help, advice, and support for social rights, housing, work training, and education to prevent and break exclusion. Our main tool is that people strengthen their belief in themselves and their own abilities. In this way, we together create a sustainable and more humane society for all.
