Job Description

Do you want to contribute to a fair and sustainable urban development in the heart of the archipelago?

We are now looking for an administrative lawyer to the Urban Planning Administration's staff in Vaxholm. A role where you will work both strategically and operationally with legal issues that make a real difference.

As an employee of the Urban Planning Administration in Vaxholm, you play a key role in the development of one of Sweden's most attractive archipelago municipalities. We are a small municipality with high ambitions and a strong community engagement, which is reflected in our employees ranking us as one of the country's best municipal employers. Together, we take responsibility for the entire urban planning area, which provides a unique breadth in the assignment. This means that we handle everything from running libraries, maintaining streets, and ensuring that municipal outdoor swimming areas function well, to planning for new residential areas, granting building permits, and working for better public transport.

The administration consists of a total of 60 employees distributed across six units: building permits, planning and development, technical unit, culture and library, large projects, and the staff. Within the staff, twelve people work as support for the entire administration to collectively achieve our goals. Here, expertise in geodata, GIS, measurement, law, communication, business development, administration, ecological sustainability, and digitization comes together. The close collaboration between the different units creates an open and unpretentious work climate where you have close access to both colleagues and managers.

Responsibilities

As an administrative lawyer, you are a central support to the entire Urban Planning Administration. You work broadly with legal issues within planning and building legislation, environmental and property law, municipal law, administrative law, and public access and confidentiality. You provide legal advice, review and draft contracts, conduct legal investigations, and represent the administration in appeals. You are also responsible for issues related to data protection (GDPR) and act as the administration's representative in the city's work on information security.

Examples of tasks:

•        Legal support to the administration's units within planning, development, building permits, property, and environment (primarily shore protection).

•        Review and drafting of contracts, decisions, and governing documents

•        Legal investigations and legal assessments

•        Advice and training in administrative law, OSL, and PBL

•        Data protection coordination and information security work in collaboration with the city's central functions

Qualifications

•        Law degree

•        Several years of experience in qualified legal work, preferably from municipal operations.

•        Good knowledge of planning and building laws and administrative law.

•        Driving license B

Meritorious

•        Experience or interest in contract-related issues within property law such as rental, lease, and other rights of use.

•        Experience in data protection issues and information security.

•        Notary service and/or service at the Land and Environmental Court.

The role demands a structured and solution-oriented approach. As an administrative lawyer, you possess a unique expertise and act as an advisor in complex legal matters, which requires you to convey legal material in a pedagogical and accessible manner for the recipient. Since the assignment involves broad contacts within the municipality and participation in several different forums, your ability to collaborate, analyze information, and communicate effectively is crucial. We place great importance on personal suitability and are looking for someone who thrives in a central role where your expertise is in demand.
