Your New Job

Jönköping Municipality and the Technical Office are responsible for the ferry traffic between Gränna and Visingsö. At the harbor office in Gränna, you, together with your colleagues, are responsible for helping travelers have a good experience traveling between Gränna and Visingsö. You will also work closely with the Transport Administration staff who operate the ferries.

The position is based at the harbor office in Gränna.

Job Responsibilities

• Booking and selling tickets
• Indoor and outdoor work
• Guiding cyclists and pedestrians
• Guiding motorists
• Ensuring that travelers have valid tickets
• Working with safety awareness
• Maintaining logistics and efficiency in the harbor

As a harbor master, you contribute to an attractive and safe place for everyone to live, work, and thrive.

Your Qualifications

As a person, you are service-oriented and care about providing each traveler with a good experience of their journey. The work requires flexibility and the ability to quickly adapt as many things can happen simultaneously in the harbor. You work well with others as well as being able to perform independently. You are a responsible person who structures your work approach. During the peak season, there are many travelers, which requires you to be stable and controlled in stressful and pressured situations.

Requirements

• 18 years old
• Swedish and English spoken and written

Meritorious

• Additional language skills
• Work experience in a service role
• Previous experience working as a harbor master

Good to Know

The recruitment is for summer staff. The season starts in May and the number of travelers gradually increases to its peak in July. From mid-August, the season winds down, and by the end of September, the summer season is over. Staffing is planned according to the season, which is why some summer workers start working as early as May while others begin around Midsummer.

The work is scheduled for weekdays and weekends. The harbor office is open daily from 07:30 AM to 06:00 PM. Depending on your role in the harbor, working hours may vary within the time frame of 07:00 AM to 06:00 PM, with exceptions until 07:00 PM.

We are looking for several summer workers, and individual interviews are planned for week 10. If you are called for an interview, consider which periods you are available between week 18 and week 40. We prefer that you work consecutive weeks. We review applications on an ongoing basis.
