Job Advertisement: Specialist Physician in Internal Medicine

The hospitals in the west are an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consist of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3000 employees work with us every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare of the highest quality.

Alingsås Hospital is an emergency hospital with a local healthcare mission and a regional player in specific medical areas. The hospital offers health and medical care around the clock in collaboration with other care providers. Through modern working methods and efficient use of resources, the hospital aims to increase accessibility for patients in the local area and in the Västra Götaland Region. Alingsås Hospital has around 750 employees.

The Medicine Department has a broad operation covering a large part of the internal medicine field, both in inpatient and outpatient care. Within inpatient care, there are three internal medicine departments and an IMA unit. One of the departments focuses on cardiology and another on stroke/neurology. The operation also includes planned outpatient services in thrombosis, general internal medicine, diabetes, gastroenterology, hematology, cardiology, and osteoporosis.

Within inpatient care, there is also an intensive care unit, a surgical department, an orthopedic department, and a palliative team. Additionally, there is a successful local healthcare team with good collaboration with municipalities. Outpatient services also include a surgical clinic, orthopedic clinic, ENT clinic, eye clinic, and gynecology clinic.

We now need to strengthen our staffing and are looking for you with broad internal medicine competence.

You will be part of a well-knit group of doctors consisting of experienced specialists and residents. Collaboration across specialist and operational boundaries is strong. Department work in medical departments with a mixed internal medicine patient clientele is included, as well as work in the medicine outpatient clinic. Supervision of medical students and training doctors is a given.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a Swedish medical license and specialist training in internal medicine. It is advantageous if you have backup competence and if you are a double specialist. Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a requirement for the position.

You are self-sufficient and professional in your role and have good clinical judgment. You demonstrate personal maturity, are secure, and have self-awareness. You have a value base where a humanistic view of people permeates your actions at work. You continuously maintain your specialist knowledge and are a knowledge resource for others.

Your ability to collaborate is good, and you relate to others in a responsive manner. You are interested in taking responsibility and contributing to operational development. A team-based working method is a given. You have the ability to lead and supervise others through a respectful and positive approach. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
